All programs are informed by evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed CBT, the Transtheoretical Model, and Motivational Interviewing.
Specialized and Holistic TherapiesBoard certified therapist led Art, Movement, Music, Equine, Experiential, Drama, and Emotional Support Animal Therapy groups in concert with Nutrition Counseling, Mindfulness, and Horticulture. The program also includes specialist led holistic healing groups for chiropractic, massage, Ayurvedic, and homeopathic medicine.
Family-Centered ProgrammingWe consider the family and support system to be integral members of the treatment team and honor their role by involving them in weekly therapy, multifamily group, weekend programming, family dinners with speaker panel discussions, and our alumni program.
12 Step PhilosophyClients participate in daily 12 step meetings, step studies, journaling, and YPAA (young people in AA) events to establish a sober support system during and after treatment. Sponsors are encouraged and are involved in weekend programming. Program includes weekend service projects and employs social model leadership levels.

Clients temporarily reside at our residential treatment center, where they can put life on hold and fully focus on healing emotionally and physically. At Center For Discovery – Long Beach, CA, our residential program is in a safe, comfortable and spacious home in a beautiful Long Beach, CA residential neighborhood. We treat a maximum of 6 clients at a time to maintain an intimate setting where residents can receive the attention and care they deserve.
Each day is structured with various therapeutic activities all aimed towards healing and recovery. Upon entering treatment, you will be assigned an substance abuse therapist who will meet with you regularly for individual and family therapy sessions. The rest of the day will include a variety of evidence-based treatments, specialized therapies, and carefully designed therapeutic challenges to facilitate self-discovery and assist you with achieving your personal treatment goals.

Residential treatment helps clients acquire the skills needed to return home so they can continue to move forward in their recovery. Once you are ready to make the transition home you will leave with a comprehensive aftercare plan and on-going support in place so that the process of healing can continue.
